This Privacy Policy governs the manner in which Quiltfolk collects, uses, maintains and discloses information collected from users (each, a “User”) of the quiltfolk.com website (“Site”). This privacy policy applies to the Site and all products and services offered by Quiltfolk.

Personal identification information

We may collect personal identification information from Users in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to, when Users visit our site, register on the site, place an order, subscribe to the newsletter, respond to a survey, and in connection with other activities, services, features or resources we make available on our Site. Users may be asked for, as appropriate, name, email address, mailing address, phone number, credit card information. Users may, however, visit our Site anonymously. We will collect personal identification information from Users only if they voluntarily submit such information to us. Users can always refuse to supply personal identification information, except that it may prevent them from engaging in certain Site-related activities.

Non-personal identification information

We may collect non-personal identification information about Users whenever they interact with our Site. Non-personal identification information may include the browser name, the type of computer and technical information about Users’ means of connection to our Site, such as the operating system and the Internet service providers utilized and other similar information.

Product Purchases

When you purchase products offered through one of our websites or publications, we collect your credit card and other payment information. We use this information to process your orders, to better assist you when you visit or contact us in the future, as well as to improve our product offerings. Your credit card transaction is processed through a secure Payment Service Provider and your card data is not retained.

Exchanges and Refunds

We are unable to exchange and refund delivered print items, such as magazines and newspapers. However, if you never received your print items or received the wrong item please contact our customer service at hello@quiltfolk.com and we will resolve the issue. Should a product be subject to further conditions relating to its eligibility for a refund or exchange it will be advertised accordingly. Refunds will be issued to your original payment method. This does not affect your statutory rights.

Prices and Currency

Prices are expressed in USD, specified on the receipt of purchase and must be paid in the Sell Currency. When the purchase is paid with a foreign currency, the exchange rate is determined by the customer’s bank. Sales taxes such as GST or VAT may be charged in accordance with the laws of the customer’s location, and where applicable will be converted at a rate determined by the customer’s bank.

Eligibility

The shop is intended for Users who are sixteen (16) years of age or older, and any purchases made on the Site’s shop by a person fifteen (15) years of age or younger should be made under the supervision of a legal parent or guardian who is fully able and competent to comprehend and adhere to the terms, conditions, obligations, affirmations, representations, and warranties set forth in this Agreement and on the shop, and to abide by and comply with this Agreement.

Web browser cookies

Our Site may use “cookies” to enhance User experience. User’s web browser places cookies on their hard drive for record-keeping purposes and sometimes to track information about them. User may choose to set their web browser to refuse cookies, or to alert you when cookies are being sent. If they do so, note that some parts of the Site may not function properly. How we use collected information

Quiltfolk may collect and use Users’ personal information for the following purposes:

To improve customer service
Information you provide helps us respond to your customer service requests and support needs more efficiently.

To process payments
We may use the information Users provide about themselves when placing an order only to provide service to that order. We do not share this information with outside parties except to the extent necessary to provide the service.

To run a promotion, contest, survey or other Site feature
To send Users information they agreed to receive about topics we think will be of interest to them.

To send periodic emails
We may use the email address to send User information and updates pertaining to their order. It may also be used to respond to their inquiries, questions, and/or other requests. In most instances, you do not have to provide us with this information to receive the publication, product or service you have requested. We use this optional demographic and preference information to tailor or improve our products and service offerings, as well as for internal marketing research purposes.

Generally, you can visit our websites without telling us who you are or providing us with any personal information. We collect the IP (Internet protocol) addresses of all visitors to our websites and clickstream and other related information such as page requests, browser type, operating system and average time spent on our websites. We use this information to monitor and improve our websites

How we protect your information

We adopt appropriate data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction of your personal information, username, password, transaction information and data stored on our Site.

Sensitive and private data exchange between the Site and its Users happens over an SSL secured communication channel and is encrypted and protected with digital signatures. When an automatic payment is completed on a subscription, an order is generated to keep a record of the payment, securely.

The Copyright Office has created a directory of designated agents from the designations filed with the Office for those service providers seeking the limitations on liability contained § 512(c). Quiltfolk has a designated agent on this list. A copyright owner of an exclusive right, or authorized agent of a copyright owner, may use the Office’s directory to find the designated agent of Quiltfolk if they believe Quiltfolk is hosting claimed infringing material, and may use that information to send a notification of claimed infringement to Quiltfolk’s designated agent. (See § 512(c)(3) for the required elements of notification.)

All content appearing in this site is the exclusive property of Quiltfolk and/or contributors operating under licensing agreements with Quiltfolk, and is protected under international copyright laws. Content is not to be downloaded, reproduced, copied, stored, manipulated, projected, used or altered in any way, alone or with any other material, or by use of computer or other electronic means without the express written permission of Quiltfolk. The use of any material as the basis for another creative concept is a violation of copyright.

Quiltfolk has the discretion to update this privacy policy at any time. When we do, we will revise the updated date at the bottom of this page. We encourage Users to frequently check this page for any changes to stay informed about how we are helping to protect the personal information we collect. You acknowledge and agree that it is your responsibility to review this privacy policy periodically and become aware of modifications.
