I chose “The Women’s Atlas” for the first month because I have been avidly reading and reflecting on the condition of women around the world. Also, the design and colors of the book cover hooked me instantly. Perusing through my stash I found the fabric with the faces which I thought would bring impact and interest to this first rendition. My home country of México is currently going through a complicated phase where women feel very vulnerable, unsafe and increasing fatalities keep occuring in cities and small towns. The happy colors of the book cover are not exactly what the statistics and diagrams of its content show. Women need to feel safe and not become part of the sad and cruel data one finds among its pages.
