This cover was a challenge for me because I thought I wanted it to be literal. I purchased so much fabric for the cover, ultimately deciding this is for a quilt about books and the quilt is for me. I let go of the the idea of total reproduction. Ultimately, I stayed with the four blocks and color of each block and am very pleased with the simplicity the blocks, because each block was obviously a portion of a much larger block. While my other blocks each have a strip of fabric that represents the spine of the book, this book has a large format, so I eliminated the spine, going with a much simpler version. I am very satisfied with the outcome of the block. For the first time in Decades, I actually used a needle and thread. (It shows), but I am happy, knowing now that I will pick up needle and thread once again for embroidery or basic sewing by hand.
