Wow! Dakota is more than a Star quilt—she’s a scrappy, spunky, spin-around-in-your-best-dress kind of Star quilt. The maker of the top that became Dakota knew how to use many colors in a cohesive, controlled way. She was able to show off a vibrant design while remaining playful, using solid sashing and her excellent hand-piecing skills when it came to the eclectic mix of fabric in the strip-pieced blocks. Measuring 64 x 74 inches, Dakota is a kind of collage of color and pattern.
Kona Buttercup was selected for the backing to contrast the scrappy front. Dakota was quilted in the Kiss pattern by Kennette Blotzer of Tall Trees Quilting, bringing even more “star” power to the quilt.
