Bold, dramatic, and deeply rooted in tradition, Odessa is a stunning example of how simple blocks can create a powerful impact. Measuring approximately 74 x 80 inches, this hand-pieced beauty features precise squares set against rich black sashing, giving the vibrant colors an almost stained-glass quality. According to The Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns, blocks like these have been called Sheepfold, Nine Patch, or even Irish Chain, and date as far back as 1896 in Ladies’ Home Journal.

The quilt is finished with a deep Kona Black backing and beautifully accented by wide borders in jewel-toned solids that frame the design and intensify its luminous effect. Longarm quilting by Kennette Blotzer of Tall Trees Quilting adds a soft, flowing texture with a Feather Meander design, bringing a sense of movement and warmth to this traditional layout. Odessa is a showstopper, a conversation piece that balances history with bold modernity, ready to become the heart of any room.
