Cotton Organdie for Seascape

• 8″ x 12.5″ organdie (included in all kits)

As you know, our main project is a quilted seascape (and the pattern and cutting instructions are already available for you to view in the Attendee Hub). We recommend that you use a white cotton organdie when embroidering the birds and waves—and we ordered some directly from Whaleys Bradford in the UK! 

Tartan and Wool for Celtic Knot

• 5″ x 7″ tartan
• 7″ x 10″ blue or pink tweed

Each Celtic Knot Kit contains one piece of Hebridean Celebration tartan and one piece of Harris Tweed in either rich blue or bubblegum pink for the background as well as an 8″ x 12.5″ piece of organdie to be used for the main project. 

About the Fabric:

• The tartan in the Celtic Knot Kit is called Hebridean Celebration and was designed by Ruth herself and woven in the Highlands. Ordinarily, this is used only in Ruth’s bespoke commissions, but we managed to secure a small amount to share with you. You will not find it available to buy anywhere else in the world—and the special story of its heritage will be revealed in the workshop! 
• The wool in the Celtic Knot Kit is authentic Harris Tweed, dyed and woven in the Outer Hebrides on treadle-powered looms and crafted without the aid of automation or electricity. Together with Ruth, Jenni and Kay hand selected two stunning variants of the traditional weave cloth, both of which enrich the tartan and make for a special heirloom characteristic of this beautiful landscape.
