Astra Printed Pattern

$14.00

By Katie Zahm
  • Designed by Katie Zahm of Zahm Co.
  • Featured on the cover of Quiltfolk, Issue 28: Colorado.
  • The pattern is printed on a 5.5″ x 8.5″ stapled paper booklet, enclosed in a clear zip bag.
  • Soft touch laminate cover (just like an issue of Quiltfolk).

Since Colorado is known for its breathtaking natural beauty and stunning views, we were really hoping to find a cover image that incorporated its famed landscapes. Luckily for us, many of our subjects were willing to join our outdoor escapades to seek that out. For instance, the
Issue 28: Colorado cover shows a glimpse of Red Rocks, which sit west of Denver. And Astra (2022), Katie Zahmā€™s featured quilt, is both stunning and classicā€”with colors that complement the environment around it, fitting perfectly in the space.Ā

And, apparently, our readers agree! So many of you wrote to us asking for more information about Astra, a pattern that Katie designed herself.

About the Pattern + Free Resources

Astra is a versatile quilt pattern, written for confident beginners. The pattern comes in various sizes and two versions: Modern (fat quarter) and Traditional (yardage). The design is centered around the Sawtooth Star block with a mix of squares, rectangles, and Flying Geese blocks. The word ā€œAstraā€ is a Latin phrase meaning “to the stars.”

The possibilities are endless with the Astra pattern! There are at least 16 different ways to make the quilt from one pattern. And additional free resources, such as a video tutorial, cutting guides, labeling pages, and coloring templates can be found on Katieā€™s website.
