Quiltfolk’s next workshop is the perfect way to spend two afternoons in October. And if you enjoy classic literature as much as you love making and studying the history of quilts, then you definitely won’t want to miss this very special, exclusive event hosted by our very own Mary Fons and Jenni Smith!
What: Join our live (virtual), two-day workshop to hear about the fascinating history of the Brontë sisters and learn how to make the center medallion of their historical quilt!
When: The workshop will take place over two days, approximately three hours each day.
A recording will be available to all who register. So if you can’t make the live event, or if you want to revisit the workshop at a later time, you will have access to the recording for three months after the workshop takes place.
Where: It is a virtual workshop — no camera required — so find a comfortable location and connect via Zoom!
Experience Level: This workshop is open to all experience levels. Whether or not you have read all the Brontë novels, or this is the first time you are hearing about them, we’d love for you to join a captivating discussion about literary and quilt history!
What You’ll Learn: The Brontë Sisters’ Quilt workshop is a brilliant skill builder for all quilters and has been designed by Jenni to include instruction on constructing an accurate Dresden plate; handling small-scale, English-paper-pieced hexie flowers; machine appliqué; and stress-free patchwork borders. The mini quilt requires both machine and hand sewing and is ideal for using small pieces of fabric to create a unique heirloom with a fascinating backstory.
What You’ll Need: Once you register for the workshop, you’ll receive an email with a kit list.
Space Is Limited: The capacity is very limited. Sign up today to secure your spot!
Cost: Registering today will also get you a $30 discount, making the two-day course just $99 (regularly $129)!
Money-Back Guarantee: If you are not satisfied with the workshop when you are through, we will refund your total amount, no questions asked.
More About the Workshop
The Brontë Sisters’ Quilt Workshop is an event like no other. We are beyond thrilled to take you on a virtual trip to the beautiful moors of England that make up the literary landscape for so many notable, classic novels — including those written by Charlotte, Emily, and Anne (e.g. Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall). But we won’t stop there. You will also visit the Brontë Parsonage Museum in the picturesque village of Haworth, England, once home to the sisters’ family, where you will get to see the original quilt that was hand-sewn by the three sisters over 200 years ago. And after hearing the history of the Brontës, their books, and their quilt, you will learn how to make your own miniature quilt based on the original’s center medallion — a piece of history that you won’t learn anywhere else!
As we get closer to October 16-17, you’ll receive a reminder email with a kit list and link to the webinar.
