i'm a very messy, scrappy, ruler-free, no-straight-lines kind of quilter, and while watching month 4's bit on spiderwebs, i started trying to figure out how i might "cheat" and save myself all the fussy piecing of the triangles. i wondered if i could strip-piece a big sheet and then cut the triangles out of that. i started playing around, and then it dawned on me that i could also just try using striped fabric and cutting triangles from that! so i gathered up anything that could pass for a stripe, made myself some very rudimentary templates just to capture the basic shape i needed and made a "cheater spiderweb"! it was totally addictive, and made me start seeing the stripes in everything! thank you for the inspiration!
