About the Collection

Years ago, award-winning Scottish quilter Sheena Norquay collaborated with Aurifil to create a Seascape Thread Pack, inspired by the seascapes that she was making at that particular time. She carefully selected colors of the sea, breaking waves, sand, rocks, pebbles, and seaweed. And, to this day, Sheena still uses these high quality threads, as seen in her tutorials for the Scenic Scotland: Stitching the Highlands workshop.

But, while Sheena still keeps this specialty thread on hand in her studio, Aurifil no longer sells it. Well … at least that was the case until we requested a special shipment for our workshop attendees—and Aurifil said, “Yes!”

A Note From Sheena:

“The high quality, mercerised 50 weight threads are very versatile and can be used for piecing, machine and hand appliqué, machine quilting with the walking foot, and free-motion quilting. These techniques are demonstrated in the workshop, and you can see me using the threads. I continue to use these colours for seascapes and other additional and alternative colours  because the sea and sky are constantly changing with different light and weather conditions. Of course the colours can be used for other projects as well. I hope you have fun using them.”
