Puzzle 06 | Blooming for Rose
Photographed on South Kingstown Town Beach for Quiltfolk, Issue 25: Rhode Island is Tina Craig’s Blooming for Rose (2022), made in memory of Rose Koretski. Rose, one of the founding members of Ninigret Quilters in Westerly, RI, welcomed Tina to the guild with open arms in 1990. They quickly bonded as two New York State natives living in southern New England. After Rose passed away in 2021, Tina organized a Sew Day as a tribute to her dear friend. About a dozen guild members made a Blooming Nine Patch quilt, Rose’s favorite pattern, from the book Tradition with a Twist. And now, the photograph of Tina’s version can be put together piece by piece in our brand-new puzzle.

Quiltfolk puzzles are made in partnership with The New York Puzzle company. All puzzles are crafted from 100% recycled chipboard that is 20% thicker than standard puzzles. Our linen-style paper reduces glare, and each puzzle is shaken prior to shipment to reduce puzzle dust. Enjoy!

Friendship Blooms Pattern

Meet the Friendship Blooms quilt! The floral motif was inspired by the beautiful dogwood petals growing in Arkansas—the appliqué flower is combined with easy piecing to create this special block. It was designed with the appreciation for all of our quilty friendships that bloom over the years.

The pattern consists of appliquéing a cute flower on top of your finished pieced block. It comes with video tutorials to show you how to pick your fabrics, make the units within the blocks, and assemble them, as well as how to make the appliqué flower using the “turn and flip” method with medium weight Heat ‘N’ Bond Fusible Interfacing. It’s a special quilt, which can be made in four sizes and three colorways that you are sure to love!
